Dad-deee!

While Blake was elk hunting in Colorado for a week (more on that from Blake later), Greyson and I spent the week trying to stick to our normal routine as much as possible. Blake is usually in the living room or kitchen when we get home in the evening, so Greyson looked all over for him when he noticed Daddy was not home. Greyson even ran to the back door to see if he was in the backyard. We sent selfies to Daddy and Greyson even learned to say Daddy! We survived the week, but were definitely glad for him to be home!

On the day Blake was going to return home, I took a quick video of Greyson saying his new favorite word, Dad-deee. It was so cute that I wasn't even upset that he wasn't saying Momma!

14 Months Old

Our munchkin is 14 1/2 months old now. We love watching him grow! It seems like he picks up something new every few days. Here are a few of Greyson's recent developments...
  • We gave him his second haircut (trim).
  • He understands words like ball, cow, bath, shoes and chair... yet seems to engage in selective hearing when we say "no".
  • He's not talking yet, but all his "words" sound the same. He definitely has the "point and grunt" down.
  • His favorite food is lasagna, but there aren't too many things that he doesn't eat (so far, anyway!).
  • He also loves backstrap and mashed potatoes. He eats mashed potatoes by the handful, literally!
  • Likes to play with his barn & animals and doctor kit.
  • Can stack a few blocks at a time.
  • Has five teeth.
  • Likes to read, especially at bedtime, and turn the pages for us. He pulls books off of the shelf and plops down in a lap!

A Little More Dancin'

Last weekend, Greyson and I went to a bridal shower in Hondo for one of my friends. While we were in the area, we spent the day with Aunt Amy and Nannie at the ranch. Thanks to a cool front, we had amazing (almost chilly!) weather. We drove around the ranch to check the cows, and once again, Greyson got to drive... and dance! He was a little more into the head bob before I started recording, but you can see him cruising to King George here.

Big Kid Shoes

Greyson's new interest... shoes! For the past few weeks, Greyson has been playing with our shoes and trying to walk in them. He picks up Blake's big running shoes and tries to lug them around and put his feet in them. He also likes to try on flip flops, making sure to get the strap between his toes. He often wanders into our closet to "reorganize" our shoes. While getting ready for work earlier this week, I asked Greyson if he wanted to wear his shoes. He immediately smiled and took off to his bedroom and pointed to the closet door. When I opened it, he knew exactly where the bin of shoes was hiding. He rarely wears shoes, but I guess I need to start putting them on more often!

Happy kid in my shoes!

And yes, that is a piggy sitting on the freezer handle. :)

Cruising with Daddy at the Ranch

Last weekend we made a quick trip out to the ranch to do a few things to prepare for the upcoming hunting season. Greyson had fun driving and dancing in the driver's seat while we rode around with Blake to fill feeders, and Blake even got a quick dove hunt in before heading home.

Daddy's little helper.
Watch out Daddy, I got this whole driving thing under control.
Droppin' it low and dancing to Taylor Swift's song "Shake It Off". He was having so much fun bouncing up and down the whole song!

San Antonio Zoo

While my brother Bryan and his crew were in town, the Lutz side of of the family met up at the San Antonio Zoo. We went to the zoo several times as kids, so it was fun to return with the family and kiddos of our own. It was Greyson's first trip to the zoo, and we had Lilly and Hallie (who are regulars with Nannie) to lead us as our personal tour guides. We went early in the morning and called it a day before it got too hot and crowded, but it was long enough to see almost everything. We didn't get to ride the train (a staple in every zoo trip!), but we did get to make a few rounds on the carousel, a new addition for the zoo's centennial.

Attempting a picture with the zebras.
Hallie picked the bald eagle to ride on the carousel.
Lilly on the seahorse. It's pink, of course!
The Lutzs on the zebras (behind them), but Wyatt wasn't too fond of the carousel ride.
Greyson was all smiles posing on the elephant until the ride started. He didn't cry, but his grip tightened and his eyes were wide the whole duration of the ride.

Tanya sneaked in on one, but Wayne somehow managed to escape all the pictures. Maybe he was off visiting relatives in the monkey exhibit? :)

Visit from the Lutz Family

My brother, Bryan, had a conference in San Antonio so he and his family decided to come a few days early to spend the weekend with us and the rest of the Lutz crew. The kids went swimming, played with the tunnel and tent and did a three-part harmony crying in the bathtub. They all played together well and were our entertainment for the weekend. I love watching all the cousins getting together to play and I hope we can do it again soon!

Caitlin chillin' in the water while Wyatt and Greyson thought it was more fun to repetitively get in and out of the pool.
All smiles from Caitlin!

Wyatt and Greyson laughing and chasing each other through the tunnel.
Time out for a quick snack and snuggles for Caitlin.
It's tough to wrangle these little wiggle worms!
Wyatt (almost 2), Lilly (8 yrs), Caitlin (9 months), Greyson (14 months) and Hallie (6 yrs).
Cutie Caitlin. She is much easier to catch a picture of than those crazy boys who are all over the place! She's already crawling, so I'm sure it won't be too much longer til she is hanging with the boys!
