We have made several trips to the ranch since deer season began. It's a lot of work to pack up and get out there, but we always have a good time when we are there. Nannie has made a few trips with us and watches Greyson while Blake and I hunt. For some reason Blake and I willingly wake up even earlier on the weekends than we do during the week, walk out in the dark and go sit in a cold deer blind. Like they say... Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy a hunting license and that's pretty close! Here are some pictures from one weekend in mid-November.
The Moores also came to hunt one Saturday afternoon. Wayne took Lilly and Hallie, along with sleeping bags, pillows and snacks and who knows what else, to go sit in the stand. Wayne said they started strong... they were wide-eyed and scouting the place out. They soon got bored and cold so cuddled up in their sleeping bags on the floor and took a little nap. Hallie decided it was too cold so she met Tanya and headed back to the cabin. Lilly stuck it out and got her first buck! We must have shot within minutes of each other. Hallie was pretty upset she missed the action, but I think she recovered quickly. Lilly thought it was so funny that the two boys - Blake and Wayne - were cleaning the deer that the two girls shot. I think I was more excited to see her shoot her first deer than I was about mine! She already has plans to hang the horns in her room!
