Greyson finally got his first taste of some food! Well, rice cereal anyway. After a round of fever cleared we assembled the high chair. He is usually very interested watching us eat, so we knew he was ready for his first bite. He moved the first spoonful around in his mouth for a while, but after that it seemed like he was gulping it down! He is eating it regularly now and I think he likes it!

Six Months Old
January 9th and 10th were big milestones in the Butler house. Greyson turned six months old on January 9th and Blake turned the Big 3-0 on the 10th. Nannie came to babysit while Blake and I celebrated with a wild and crazy night with dinner and a movie (Lone Survivor is a must see, by the way). This was our first time out and all went well! I think our "babysitter" had just as much fun!
Greyson had a good 6 Month Checkup. He's up to 16 pounds 12 oz. (29th percentile) and 27 1/2 inches long (78th percentile). He has gotten really good at sitting up on his own, but still topples over when he extends his reach just a little too far. A lot of times he wakes up and starts "singing" and wants to play - even at 5:00 in the morning. He's one happy kid!

Hangin' With Daddy
Greyson and Daddy hanging out... playing guitar, watching football and nap time! Rough life for these boys, huh?

Sitting Up
Greyson is now sitting on his own. I usually put him on our bed in the mornings so that I can keep an eye on him while I get ready for work. One day a few weeks ago, I set him down on the bed and he continued to sit up without any support. I managed to catch a picture before he toppled over.
Once he figured out how to sit up, he realized that he can push the buttons on his "Hey Diddle Diddle" toy a lot easier than when on his tummy. This toy may need to go back to Nannie's house!

Picture Day
Greyson had his first school picture day at daycare. When I picked him up that afternoon I noticed a new scratch on his nose and hoped it happened after the picture was taken. It didn't turn out that way, but his picture still turned out so cute. Would we expect anything else from our cutie pie?!

Butler Christmas
Since Christmas fell on a Wednesday, we celebrated with Blake's side of the family the following weekend at Brad and Christi's house in Huntsville. The whole crew was there and we even got to see Andy, Mandi, Mabry, Cody, Lindsay and Garrett. Unfortunately, they were also in town for a funeral, but we were glad we got to see them for a little bit. We had a great time hanging out, opening presents and playing with all the new toys.

It's tough being the little one. It will be interesting to see what these boys will get into. |

Merry Christmas!
Greyson's first Christmas was so much fun for us! We baked cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve and opened presents at home the next morning. Then we picked up Nannie to visit the Moore family, Amy and Barrett in Utopia and to deliver some gifts for Lilly and Hallie.
Determined to get that bow off. |

Getting Ready for Christmas
Greyson loved the Christmas tree. He loved looking at all the lights and colors of the ornaments. He even has a few ornaments of his own on the tree.

He didn't know what to think about this puppy. It sings Jingle Bells while rocking and flapping its ears. |
Our neighbors down the street always have a very elaborate Christmas light display set to music during the holidays. It takes them several weeks to set up The West Pole (their last name is West) and there is always a steady stream of cars to check it out. They even pass out candy canes and have a bubble machine for the kids. Blake braved some pretty cold wind one weekend to put up some icicle lights to add to the street's lights. Notice the neighbor's "Ditto" sign. Check out this YouTube video for the full effect.

Learning New Things
Greyson makes us laugh every day! He is always such a happy kid! He recently started holding his bottle on his own. He gets so excited when he sees it, holds out his hands, kicks his feet and opens his mouth before it's even within reach. At first he would hold it vertically the way we handed it to him and bring it to his mouth. He would get frustrated when it just wouldn't go in. Then, he figured out how to tip it towards him. He holds it so tight his little fingers turn white.
Don't worry, I got this Mom. |
He also discovered there are feet at the end of those little legs! He will try to put all his toes in his mouth, which usually just ends up in a stretched out, wet sock. He gets super excited during bath time or when changing clothes. Any time he's not wearing socks, the toes go straight in the mouth.

Visiting Santa
We took Greyson to visit Santa at Bass Pro Shop in San Antonio. We thought since it was only December 8 and we arrived just as Santa started pictures, we would be in and out in a reasonable amount of time. I guess you can tell we are definitely new at this! Greyson took a nap while I waited in line and Blake looked around the store. He woke up, had a bottle and was in a good mood. We finally reached the front of the line and it was our turn! Santa was super sweet, but Greyson wasn't sure what to think...

Baby Caitlin is Here!
Caitlin Ann-Renee Lutz was born on December 2. She arrived in the late afternoon, weighed 8 pounds 3 oz and measured 20 1/2 inches long. We are all so excited to have another little one in the family. Jennifer and Bryan were excited to welcome a healthy baby girl and Wyatt seemed happy to have a new buddy.
