Happy 4th of July!

Greyson made a flag t-shirt at daycare to celebrate his first Independence Day.
My little baby is a firecracker!
We let Greyson open his first birthday present from us a couple of days early. We should have known he would be content with just the box!
Greyson's first farm - to match his farm-themed birthday party, of course!

Pool Time!

We finally got Greyson a pool! As expected, he didn't like it at first and was crying while trying to climb out. Within a few minutes, he settled down and realized how fun it is to splash in the water!

Snapshots

One weekend morning, Blake turned the TV to Sesame Street. When Greyson heard the singing, he parked his walker right in front of the TV and listened to Jason Mraz sing with all his puppet friends, while playing with his new toy, an empty paper towel roll.
Walking too fast for Momma to snap a picture!

Cheesin'!
Greyson's first time to drive at the ranch. We may need to work on the "keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel" basics. He loved hearing Blake honk the horn.

Blake's New Ride

With Blake driving so much to and from work, we finally decided to buy a "commuter car". It's a Honda Accord and is much more friendly on our gas budget. I'm glad Greyson seems to like it - it will be his in 15 years! :)

One good thing about having big cousins (among several other things, of course!) is getting toys they have outgrown. The other day, Greyson was in his room being too quiet. When I walked in, there were books scattered across the floor (his new favorite thing to do is pull all the books off the shelf and slide the hard, smooth cover across the carpet) and he was digging in his toy box. He pulled out a toy puppy and began pushing it across the floor. I snapped a picture and sent it to my sister, Tanya, to show my niece, Hallie. She was a little reluctant to give up her well-loved puppy so I wanted to show her how much Greyson liked it. As soon as I sent the picture, I head the puppy drop on the tile floor and saw one of the plastic legs detached from the body. Leave it to a boy! The poor puppy's name is now Tripod.

...And He's Off!

Greyson is officially walking! He has been standing with good balance for a while and took his "first" steps on Sunday (Father's Day!), so we knew it was only a short time until he figured it out. He took about 25 or 30 steps Friday evening, with about 6 at a time being the most. He kept us entertained all evening. Friday night fun at the Butler's! Now that he's got it down, he hasn't really stopped! The teachers at daycare were shocked on Monday to see him go non-stop across the room and pop right back up when he falls instead of crawling. When he falls, he puts his hands and feet flat the floor, pushes his little hiney up in the air and stands upright, then he's off again! His progress from one day to the next is pretty amazing. I hope to have more videos soon. Stay tuned!

Father's Day

On Sunday we celebrated Blake's first Father's Day. Greyson is so lucky to have such a great daddy! It was a relaxing day at home and Greyson showed off and took two steps! He has taken a couple of steps at daycare and did some half stumble/half steps at home, but these were his first true steps! It was Father's Day and Blake and I were both there to see it, so I am counting it as his first steps. Moms can do that, right?? ;)

Supervising while Daddy works.
Lookin' cool in my shades!

Greyson has been doing really good without his pacifier, but we usually leave it near his bed at night "just in case". After putting him down for bed, I heard him whining and walked back into his room to see his little arm stretched through the crib. So close, yet so far away! Before you go calling CPS on me, his pouty face is more from the bright camera flash than the Paci Police. I laid him down and he went right back to sleep.
