New Flower Beds

Continuing on the home makeover theme, March is here and we decided to finally make the jump and freshen up the look of our front yard by re-doing our flower beds. The process actually started last Spring when we had someone haul off three flatbed trailer loads full of white landscape rock. Continuing with the project this year, we decided to pull up the shrubs for a more open look that wouldn't cover the windows and front door. We planted a few Knockout Rose bushes, and salvia and lariope that will have tiny pink and purple blooms. It looks pretty bare right now, but hopefully everything will start growing and give us some colorful blooms. Blake is also in the process of making shutters for the garage windows, and we will add some planters near the front door.

Playroom Makeover

From the very first time that we looked at our house with the realtor, we knew that the dining room would be converted into a playroom for the kiddos. Due to its location in the house and size of the kids' bedrooms - not to mention the Toys R Us amounts of toys that we currently own - it just makes more sense for us to have a playroom rather than a dining room. We moved in on the very last day of August 2015, and the playroom stayed in a constant state of toddler destruction. I never took the time to organize it or do anything with it knowing the future plans (which is why a U-Haul box sat in the corner for two years!). When it was finally time for the playroom to move to the top of my beloved carpenter's project list, we came up with a plan that would help keep everything organized and out of sight (for the most part). Blake did an awesome job on everything! The shelving and window seat look like they were a part of the house's original floor plan and we can still use it after the playroom is transformed into something else years down the road (dining room, Momma's craft room??) His part is done, and now I just have a few more decorative touches to add. It's come a long way since the tiled room with an ugly gold-accented fan, old movie theater-style drapes and vertical blinds!

Let's Rodeo, San Antonio!

Amy and Barrett invited us to go to the San Antonio Rodeo. They snagged our favorite babysitter (aka Nannie) before we could, but we couldn't argue since they gave us tickets :)  We didn't make it to the funnel cake stand this time around, but we did enjoy some cold beer, good company, jokes from the one-and-only Leon Coffee and even a few songs from the Goo Goo Dolls (who we realized were popular back when we were in Junior High!).

Greyson's Field Trip

On February 6, Greyson's Pre-K class took a field trip to the Universal City Fire Station and Police Station. He was so excited to get to see the firetrucks up close and of course, the heroes!

I got Blake tickets to see the San Antonio Rampage hockey team for his birthday, but we had to cancel the week of his birthday when the kids both had the flu. We finally made it a few weeks later!

Super Blue Blood Moon Eclipse
The January 31 Supermoon (appears bigger and brighter) was the second full moon of January, making it a blue moon, and although it wasn't visible in our area, it also occurred during a total lunar eclipse.
