Happy 4th Birthday, Greyson!

Greyson turned 4 years old on July 2... FOUR!! Since we had two family trips planned this month, along with hosting a baby shower in between, we decided not to have a big party this year. I was a little sad because it was the first year not to have the whole family over for a party, but a few smaller celebrations turned out to be just as fun. To celebrate his birthday we took him to "the bicycle store" (aka Walmart) to let him pick out a bicycle. His long legs are outgrowing his tricycle he received for Christmas a couple years ago, so we have been talking about getting him a big boy bicycle, however the idea wasn't well received. He had his mind set on a motorcycle (a small dirt bike like his big cousin received a few months ago for his birthday and he saw in a picture or video one time!). We knew he would like a bicycle once he got it, but contemplated whether we should just buy one and surprise him or let him pick it on his own at the store. We decided to let him pick it out and he was excited once he saw all the bikes lined up. He picked out a Spider-Man bicycle and insisted on a matching helmet because he "needs to be safe". He excitedly rode the bike out of the store and then we went to BJ's Brewhouse for some pizza and a delicious birthday Pizookie.

Port Aransas

We recently took our first trip of the summer to Port A for some beach fun in the sun. Nannie & Guppy and the Moores joined us for a few days at The Sandpiper condo where we splashed in the waves, played in the sand and swam in the pool. Addison was only about 7 months old when we went last year, so she loved getting to run and splash in the waves this time. She had no fear of the water and would have ran out into neck-high water if I would have let her! Greyson enjoyed venturing out a little farther and jumping the waves with Daddy. On Friday night we went out for a family dinner at Fin's for some fresh seafood and later celebrated Greyson's 4th Birthday with a chocolate cake, ice cream and a few birthday presents when we returned to the condo. We headed home on Saturday, but Tanya and Wayne surprised Lilly and Hallie when they told them they were staying one more day to go to Schlitterbahn in Corpus Christi with Nannie and Guppy. It was a fun beach trip and we hope to do it again next year!

Greyson and I iced his birthday cake - and sneaked in a few licks of icing while no one was watching!

Aunt Amy hit the nail on the head when she picked out a SINGING Minions birthday card for Greyson. He laughed soo hard!
Uncle Wayne helping Greyson get his new fishing pole from the Moores ready to catch some BIG fish!
Riding the ferry on the way out of Port A
Greyson was practicing casting with his new fishing pole as soon as we got back home.

Celebrating 6 Years

Blake and I marked our sixth anniversary on July 2. Although we celebrated a few weekends ago by going to our annual Rangers anniversary game, we had a babysitter come over to watch the kiddos so we could celebrate with a meal at one of our favorite restaurants, Huisache, and then go out for a few beers. We may have called it a night much earlier than we would have six years ago, but we had a great time celebrating us and the past 6+ years!

The kids love Miss Mikaela!

Addison - 18 Month Check-up

Addison turned 18 months old on May 22 and she recently had her 18 month check-up on June 29th. She's 34.5 inches tall (97th percentile) and weighs 26 pounds 12.5 oz (88th percentile). She has a "healthy appetite" :) and will eat pretty much everything, but she has just recently started to refuse/turn down a few things... and so the picky-eater stage begins... She did have to get one shot, but she only whined for about two seconds and then was fine! She likes to dance, give big, wet kisses and wipe everything clean with baby wipes (the floor, her hands and high chair tray, her tummy...). She still loves watching everything Big Brother does, but now she's a little more hands-on in wanting to play with him or with whatever he is playing with, which has caused some fights already. Her little personality is really starting to show (as seen in the pictures below!). I think is going to give me plenty of gray hairs!

Blowing kisses while we wait for her doctor appointment.
She was so happy when I finally gave in and let her hold the entire bag of Cheerios.

Workin' those eyebrows.
The "It wasn't me" face...

We passed down the crib that Addison has been using (and Greyson and cousins Hallie and Lilly also used) to Amy to prepare for Baby Jake's arrival in September. She isn't quite ready for a big girl bed, so we are borrowing her big cousin Caitlin's old crib for the time being. Luckily, the transition has been easy and there haven't been any disruption in her sleep. One last naptime in the old crib before taking it to Amy's house!
