Hangin' Out with Nannie & Guppy

Nannie and Guppy picked up the kiddos last Sunday to give me a few hours of rest while continuing to recover from walking pneumonia. They went to Son's Island, a new campground just a few miles from our house, to check it out for a possible location for a family trip. It is on a part of the river that provides lots of shade, swimming and other water activities. After checking that out, they went to Dairy Queen for some ice cream!

Easter

Easter this year was pretty uneventful this year. Our plans to go to church and have Nannie and Guppy over for an Easter Egg hunt and lunch got scrapped when I still wasn't feeling better after being sick for several weeks. What started as an itchy throat from allergies turned into a constant cough and achy body, then into bronchitis, and later walking pneumonia. The previous day I was feeling OK at Blake's company Family Day, but later that evening I got a fever and chills and was down for the count.  After an early shower and nap, I woke up not knowing if it was 8pm or 3am... but I had to help the Easter Bunny get ready for the morning! Luckily, it was only about 10pm and we managed to get everything prepped for the morning. The Easter Bunny left the kids new PJs, the Trolls movie and some other goodies in their baskets. Nannie and Guppie stopped by with more goodies and we had a quick egg hunt. We watched Trolls about 4 times and had a lazy day to let this Momma rest.

Nannie brought goodies!

Greyson found the Golden Egg!
The kids were over hunting eggs long before they had all been found, so Blake brought in the big guns with his 5-gallon Easter basket to finish the job.

Flowers Baking Co. Family Day

Blake's company hosted a Family Day for the employees of the bakery. It was the third annual event, and this one was bigger and better than the two previous years. There was a food truck serving burgers, chicken strips and awesome malts, a sno-cone truck, a face painter and two jumpy castles. In addition to the new cornhole boards we made, there was also a duck pond and a couple of rides for the kids and great door prizes given away throughout the event. Most of the door prizes were Spurs gear and Blake won two Spurs shirts! He was sooo happy. :) The Spurs Coyote and Easter Bunny even made appearances! After eating lunch and prying Greyon off the inflatable slide and rides, we got to tour the bakery and got a quick peek in Daddy's office to see where he works.

These two could have spent all afternoon playing with the ducks.

Safety first! Hairnets for everyone!

Cornhole Boards

We recently completed two sets of custom cornhole boards. After Blake built a set for his boss to give as a gift a few months ago, he asked Blake to build another set for their upcoming company family day. We used two of their most popular logos, ButterKrust and Nature's Own, to create custom wraps for the boards and love the way they turned out. He also made a custom shadowbox for a vintage metal ButterKrust sign that will be a door prize at Family Day. The boards we made for ourselves featured our favorite rivalry - Spurs vs. Mavs! Who's ready for the match-up?

Batting Practice 101

Blake and Greyson had a front yard batting practice the other day. Greyson still prefers to bat (and swing a golf club) left-handed, so we will see if that continues. It was so fun to watch him get so excited when he got a good hit.

Greyson's Prediction of His New Baby Cousin

While patiently waiting to hear from Aunt Amy on the news of the gender of Baby Phillips, I asked Greyson his prediction. I didn't even ask, but he also has a guess for hair color. :)

Walker Co. Fair Fun

We joined the rest of the Butler crew to cheer on our nephew, Braylon, as he participated in the Walker County Fair Mutton Bustin' competition. His sheep in the first round seemed pretty lethargic, so Braylon gave him a little kick in the ribs to get him going. He advanced to the final round and finished with a 7th place (I think?) win. Afterwards, we made our way to the carnival. Greyson had so much fun riding the truck, big slide, roller coaster(!) and carousel with his cousins. Addison even got in on the carousel fun and was all smiles, until the ride started. She quickly ditched her horse and rode the entire ride in my arms.

Clapping for Braylon
First ride of the day... trucks!
Braylon was such a sweet big cousin and helped Greyson carry his grain sack all the way to the top. They were all smiles all the way down!
Ready for his first roller coaster ride!
He loved riding the roller coaster with Daddy!
Addison on her carousal horse... before it started.
Headed into the Fun House with Wyatt. They weren't quite as fast as Braylon, but they made it all the way top of the rope bridges and then rode the big slide down.
Front row seats to the rodeo thanks to Uncle Brad and Aunt Christi.

Everyone wanted to slide with Papa.

Addison On the Trampoline

We traveled to Huntsville last weekend to visit the Butler side of the family and see Braylon participate in the Walker County Fair Mutton Bustin'. Addison got her first taste of trampoline fun at the Volker's house on Friday evening. She wasn't quite sure what to do or how to do it, but I think she's a fan!

Cousins, popsicles and sunshine!
