SeaWorld

We recently tagged along with my brother and his family on a trip to SeaWorld. We took Greyson during the holidays two years ago, but since he was just over a year old, he wasn't that impressed. He enjoyed it much more this time with all the cousins and Aunt Amy. We got to see the main attraction, Shamu, the dolphin/acrobat show Azul, the penguins and aquarium until the kiddos were wore out. We headed out a little earlier than the rest of the gang when the threat of a thundershower delayed the walrus show. It never rained, but both kids were tired and hungry so we packed up and headed home and saw a complete rainbow end to end on the way home. It was a fun day with the cousins!

Visit From the Lutzs

The Lutzs recently came to visit us for the weekend. Wyatt and Caitlin were sooo excited to see Baby Addison! Since it was the weekend of the Comal County Fair (and daycare was closed and I had the day off on Friday), we took Uncle Bryan, Aunt Jennifer, Wyatt and Caitlin to the parade in downtown New Braunfels. We happened to get really lucky and found some good seats in the shade without having to get there hours before it started. We still had to wait about 30 minutes before we saw the first police car coming up the road signaling the start of the parade, but the kiddos were working on their second round of snacks and excited to finally see some action. We watched it for about an hour and a half before we decided to head out (I later found out it lasted another hour and a half!). The kids were hot and hungry and Addison fell asleep so we headed to Peter Piper Pizza for some pizza, rides and games. We wrapped up and were leaving the parking lot just as bus loads of band kids from the parade were unloading!

I think we spent $40 for Wyatt and Greyson to ride this fire truck! They loved it!

Addison's 9-Month Check-up

Addison turned nine months old in August, but due to the timing of her last immunizations, her well-child visit was not until September 20 (just four days after a doctor visit for her first ear infection). The good news was that her ears were starting to look better. The bad news was she had to get more shots. She is now 30 inches tall (97th percentile) and weighs 21 lbs 13 oz (90th percentile). She recently moved up to the next class at daycare and although she is one of the youngest in the class, she's the same size as the oldest babies! She is still walking with the assistance of her push car, but is starting to stand for longer periods of time and take a few steps at a time. It won't be long until she's off and chasing Big Brother!

San Antonio Zoo

A few weeks ago, we attempted a trip to the San Antonio Zoo, but ended up at The Doseum (children's museum) when that plan got rained out. Last weekend, our second attempt was successful! We got a late start to our day and it was HOT, but we hit all the must-sees -- giraffes, elephants, hippos, etc. and the carousel and train -- so it all worked out.

Date with Greyson

Greyson was invited to a birthday party for one of his daycare friends, so while Daddy stayed home with Addison, Greyson and I made a day of it. We stopped by Safety Saturday at Lowe's to see the firetrucks, ambulance, rescue boats and helicopter on display. Greyson loved seeing all the rescue vehicles and getting to climb up in them, but was being too shy to talk to the firefighters and officers. After checking it all out, we went next door to Firehouse Subs for some Cheetos, I mean sandwiches. He loved the firehouse-themed restaurant and even and even got a firefighter hat. After lunch, we headed to the local gymnastics gym. The kids had free reign of the entire gym. Greyson ran, jumped, hula hooped and played. None of the kiddos slowed down until it was time for cake!

UTSA Football Game

We kicked off college football season last Saturday by watching the UTSA Roadrunners in action at the Alamodome. Blake and I went to a game in the inaugural season about five years ago, and it was interesting to see how much the program and fan atmosphere has developed. There were fraternities and college groups tailgating and lots of fans in their orange and blue Roadrunner gear. It had grown a little larger than I expected! Other than the few foul-mouthed fans behind us, we had a great time watching the game, and the huge tub of popcorn was the hit of the night! We had to beg Nannie and Guppie to watch Addison while we were at the game, but somehow they managed. ;)

Here are a few videos of the munchkins lately. Be sure to adjust your volume, they can get a little loud and screechy! :)
