Memorial Day

Blake had to work most of Memorial Day, so it was just me and Greyson at home on a gloomy, rainy day. I planned to fun a few errands and maybe even go to the park, but since it looked like a downpour could happen at any minute and we were under a flash flood watch all day, we decided to stay home. Both the Comal River and Guadalupe River in New Braunfels stayed within their banks, but unfortunately, much of the area just up the road north and northwest of us in San Marcos and Wimberley suffered very damaging storms and flooding. Most previous storms have happened while Greyson was sleeping, so he was a little scared when a large storm rolled through late that afternoon and our power went out for a few minutes. He was suddenly glued to my lap and kept saying "tunder" with the widest eyes I have ever seen. Despite the weather, we were still able to have a little fun on our day off.

Greyson got stuck in his dump truck...
...and prepared granola bars for our morning snack.
The pool was full with rainwater, so of course he mischievously threw his golf balls in it. Then his golf club. Then himself!
He would have swam for an hour if I let him, but since it wasn't ideal swimming conditions, I lured him out with the promise of lunch. :)
We made a quick trip out to the ranch on the Saturday before Memorial Day. Greyson loved Hallie's hat. Isn't he the cutest lil' cowboy?!

Fore!

Golf season is here, and as you can imagine, Blake has had the golf itch lately.. "work" golf tournaments, hours at the driving range and a new driver. Just like the recent Stomach Bug of 2015 that hit the Butler house, the itch is spreading. Greyson loves playing with Blake's clubs, so we thought about getting him his very own set for his birthday. I saw some at Target the other day, and of course we couldn't wait until July to give them to him, so we headed out to the backyard for a golf lesson after supper. Watch out Rory, Greyson is going to be the new #1 golfer soon!

Getting some tips from Daddy.

One proud daddy!

He spent most of the time hacking away at the air, but it was too cute to watch how much fun he was having!

Snapshots

We finally had a break in the rain and Greyson was feeling better so we headed to the backyard to let him burn off some energy!

While flipping through the channels, we stopped on a random awards show on TV. Greyson busted out some serious air guitar, or as he says, "tar"!

Mother's Day

We took it easy on Mother's Day since Greyson had a second round of a stomach bug and Blake was still recovering from it. We quarantined ourselves in our house so we didn't get anyone else sick. Blake helped Greyson with some hand print art my Mother's Day book, which turned into a fun family activity... ha! I think he was upset because I attempted to take the pen away from him after he started making pen marks all over his face and nearly poking his eye. What a mean momma! Then, we decided to take a picture with Greyson holding the potted flowers he planted for me at daycare. He already picked off all the flowers and the whole thing ended up on the floor, but I wouldn't trade being this kiddo's momma for anything!

Another handmade sign for Nannie's Mother's Day present.

Snapshots

I'm finally catching up.... A stomach bug hit the Butler house and decided to stick around a little too long. Greyson first started feeling bad on Wednesday night - just after Uncle Swayze got into town and headed out to the driving range with Blake. I'll spare you the details, but it was a rough evening for Greyson and me. Greyson didn't have much of an appetite all week and eventually developed a horrible diaper rash. He dreaded every diaper change, and Blake and I did too. Greyson ended up spreading his lovely little germs with Daddy and Uncle Swayze the next week, and then Greyson got ANOTHER less intense round of the bug again the next weekend. Luckily, I was spared but it has been a long, exhausting couple of weeks for us. Between the constant rainy days and sickness, we are ready for some sunshine and healthy people!

Greyson was still in a relatively good mood despite the stomach bug. He was racing his horse in his own version of the Kentucky Derby after seeing the horses on TV (pants were optional in his version of the race).
Greyson was feeling a little better, so we headed outside to play and pop wheelies while we had a short break in the rain.

Birth Stat Signs

While the Lutzs were visiting last weekend, Blake and I finished up some very special projects for Wyatt and Caitlin. I made a wooden plaque for Greyson with all his birth stats (I finally finished it when he was about 1 1/2 years old!), and my sister-in-law asked me to make some for her kiddos. I loved how they turned out and hope they look great hanging in their rooms!
