Busy Weekend!

We had a busy weekend that included a date night, wedding rehearsal and dinner, wedding and a quick visit to Grandpa's. Nannie babysat Greyson last Thursday while Blake and I headed out for our second date night since Greyson was born (the other one was in January for Blake's birthday!). My birthday was the following Monday, so we enjoyed dinner and a Kacey Musgraves concert at the Hall. We were yawning and rethinking our decision in the lull between the opening band and Kacey Musgraves, but once she came on stage we decided to stick around. She only has one CD out, so there were lots of fun covers, ranging from a Spanish-inspired version of George Strait's "I Just Want to Dance with You" to TLC's "No Scrubs".

I took the next day off work, so Greyson and I packed up and headed to Blake's work to pick him up. Then, we were off to Castroville and Hondo for a wedding rehearsal and dinner for my friend Katelin and her fiancee Bo.

Saturday was the wedding, so I was gone all day to do fulfill my bridesmaid hair/makeup/pictures duties. Blake and Greyson hung out at Aunt Amy's house at the ranch until Blake had to leave for the wedding, and Aunt Amy babysat the rest of the day.

My handsome date.

We stopped by Grandpa's house to say hello on our way home on Sunday.

Monday was my "29th" birthday, but I was too tired to do anything else. It's hell getting old!

Snapshots

A few recent snapshots of our lil munchkin!
My little helper kept rearranging my fall decorations.
Reading in his chair. He's pretty possessive of his chair and has been known to scream and yell until it's back in his safety.
Enjoying the cooler weather with a cruise around the block.
All smiles at bath time!

Pickin' Pumpkins

Last Sunday we visited a local pick-your-own pumpkin patch. It is located on a family farm just outside of New Braunfels that has a fresh produce stand year round and a booth a the Farmers Market. We parked the car and took a hayride out to the pumpkin patch to pick our own right off the vine. Greyson was intrigued by the tractor and all the noise it made. He liked running around in the field and wanted to take all the pumpkins home. I think he was surprised when he tried to pick them up and they were much heavier than the hollow ones we have at home for decoration. We arrived a little too late to enjoy the other activities (face painting, dress a scarecrow, play in the cornbox (similar to a sandbox, but with corn kernels instead), but we did get to see the lambs and baby chicks and ended up buying two pumpkins that Greyson picked out for us.

Busted!

Greyson was being suspiciously quite one day, so knowing he was getting into something, I walked into his room to find a pile of baby wipes on the floor. Busted! In his defense, he did try to put them back in the container.

And here's the video evidence...

State Fair of Texas

Last weekend we drove up to Rockwall to see Nana and Papa and go to the State Fair with them along with Blake's sister, Christi, and her kiddos, Braylon and Wyatt. We arrived at the fair Saturday morning shortly after the gates opened and entered through the carnival section. Braylon wasted no time and picked out his first ride. Greyson and Wyatt were still too small for the majority of the rides, so Braylon got his fill of trucks, motorcycles and bumper cars, although he probably would have rode more if allowed. We did find some activities for the little ones, and of all things at the fair, they probably enjoyed playing in the dirt with tractors and other farm equipment the most. Boys will be boys! We had the usual State Fair staples - corn dogs, funnel cakes and cotton candy, but I never found my Fried Oreos!

Greyson's First Haircut

Greyson recently had his first real haircut. We have trimmed it up twice before, but this was his first all-over cut. Once we saw how hard (and scary) it was to cut a squirming toddler's hair with scissors, we invested in some clippers. He was a little suspicious of them at first because of the noise, but eventually sat still long enough for Blake to cut it all.

Apparently, it's more fun to play in the swimming pool with no water!

Katelin's Bachelorette Party

I spent the last weekend in September in Houston celebrating one of my friend's last few weeks as a single lady! Katelin has been one of my BFFs since the 6th grade when we used to pass notes and make friendship bracelets. She lived in College Station during college when I was in Huntsville, so we have always kept in touch. I was her "weekend roommate" for much of my first two years of college (until I met a cute boy and decided to stick around Huntsville more often). The group of girls met up in Houston at the Magnolia Hotel on Friday afternoon before heading out to a comedy club. We stayed up too late chit-chatting and being too loud in our hotel room. I was excited to sleep in for the first time in a very long time, but at 7 am we were awakened by a jackhammer in the construction zone next to our hotel. We spent the day being lazy, hanging out at the rooftop pool and hot tub (which looked much bigger on the hotel's website) and catching up. Saturday night, we got all dressed up, went to dinner and then out on the town. We had lots of fun and again, stayed up way to late for me! It was a great weekend, but I missed my boys and was ready to get back home (I have only been away from Greyson overnight one other time - Amy's bachelorette party). I can't wait to celebrate the Bride-to-Be soon!

Daddy and Greyson made my weekend away easier by sending me smiley pictures!
