Nine Months and Growing!

Greyson had his nine month checkup on April 23. He is a growing kid! He's now 29 1/2 inches tall (85th percentile) and weighs 20 lbs. 4 oz (57th percentile). His chunky little thighs are the only chubby thing on him.

There's not much to entertain a baby in a doctor's office.

Two days later, Greyson started running a fever that continued throughout the weekend and into Monday. We were back at the pediatrician's office for the third time in a week on Tuesday morning (the nine month checkup the week before was initially scheduled for the day before, but as soon as we arrived for our appointment, the doctor had to leave to go deliver a baby!). His temperature lowered but he had his first ear infection. We got some antibiotics (which he now thinks is yummy) and some ear drops with help with the pain. We are on the road to recovery and ready to have our happy baby back!

Dinnertime!

After Gresyon ran a fever and drooled excessively for a couple of days, we thought he surely had a tooth or two coming in. His fever cleared and he started feeling better but nope, no tooth yet! He eats about four 8-ounce bottles throughout the day, as well as Stage 3 baby food for breakfast, lunch, a snack and dinner. In addition to baby food and the usual Gerber starter foods, we have been giving him a a little bit of table foods to practice with so he will be ready when those chompers do come in.

We have been practicing with a sippy cup, too!
Love this smile!!

Happy Easter!

Greyson and I got to spend Good Friday at home and running errands. We did some shopping and stopped by the daycare's rummage sale fundraiser. When Blake got home from work, we went out to the driving range to enjoy the great weather for a little while longer. I took a blanket and Greyson and I played while Daddy hit golf balls.

Enjoying our day off.
Apparently, Greyson doesn't like other people to be in his selfies!
First time at the driving range.

When I was little, me and my family made nests for the Easter Bunny. We picked a handful of oats from the field and lined a cardboard box to make a soft nest for the Easter Bunny to lay eggs. We decorated them with bluebonnets, Indian paintbrushes and other wildflowers and got a few special roses from my grandma's house for the final touch. We set them out the night before Easter and woke up to a nest full of eggs and candy from the Bunny. To continue the tradition, I found a pre-made "nest" for Greyson. The Easter Bunny brought him some snacks and a mini-chocolate bunny.

We went to church and then a neighborhood block party and enjoyed watching a Spurs playoff win over the Mavs! Go Spurs Go!

Greyson's first Easter egg hunt. He was content with one egg.
While trying to pull up on a kitchen chair later that evening, Greyson fell backwards and the chair came tumbling down on him. He got his first black eye.

Nine Months Old

Where has the time gone?! Greyson turned nine months old on April 9. I have been so good about taking pictures of him on the 9th of every month, until now. He was not in the mood for a mini-photo shoot on the 9th, and then we were out of town for Amy's wedding weekend. These are just a few days late. ☺

Our little dare devil is constantly on the go and pulling up on everything. As I mentioned last month, these pictures are getting harder and harder to take because he doesn't sit still for long. Blake started playing his guitar to distract him long enough to snap a picture, but he was on the go again to check it out. He loves Daddy's guitar!

We always splash in the water and play for a few minutes before getting out of the bathtub, but now Greyson has figured out how to make BIG splashes by himself. Bath time has gotten more entertaining, for Greyson anyway.

Amy & Barrett are hitched!

My little sister, Amy, and Barrett got married on April 12 at Frio Springs in Leakey. The weather was perfect for their short & sweet ceremony right along the Frio River and the reception that followed. My big sister, Tanya, and I were the Matrons of Honor. It was a busy and fun weekend celebrating Amy and Uncle Barrett with the whole family! I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked, but hopefully I can snag some of Amy's from the photographer and my mom to post later. I didn't event get one of the bride and groom the day of the wedding! I am so disappointed in my snap-happy self. Here are some from the weekend...

I think the kids outnumber the adults on Amy's side of the family!
Gettin' pretty! Tanya, Jennifer, Amy and me
Hallie (L) and Lilly (R) were flower girls along with Barrett's niece (center). They and Barrett's nephew all got along so well the whole weekend and were excited to have new "cousins".

Aunt Amy is such a great aunt and brave bride to let her nine month old nephew sit on her white dress just minutes before the ceremony!

The reception area had a playground. Amy and Barrett must have known how many kiddos would be at their wedding when they booked this place!

Snapshots

Since Greyson is crawling everywhere, we brought the high chair into the hallway so we could work out while still keeping an eye on him. After he finished his snack, he wanted to get in on the action too!

Standing Like a Big Kid

Greyson is getting stronger and more adventurous. He is crawling everywhere and has been pulling up on everything, including the ottoman, brick fireplace hearth and glass-top coffee table (which has since been removed from the living room). One morning while getting him ready for daycare, I set him in his crib to get some clothes out of the dresser. I turned around and he was standing up, grinning from ear to ear!

Yum Yum!

Over the past several weeks, we have been trying to get Greyson to eat Gerber Puffs. They are made to dissolve in a baby's mouth, but he usually gagged on them so we put them back in the pantry to try again the next week. Then, I heard about baby rice cakes called Mum Mums. They are a little wafer-like cracker and are big enough for him to hold. Since he puts everything in his mouth anyway, this helped soften it up while he tested it out. He liked the Mum Mums much better than the Puffs. This past weekend he finally successfully ate the Puffs, and a lot of them once he figured it all out! He did not like Stage 3 baby food the first couple of times we have tried it, but he is warming up to it. Hopefully we can start testing out some real food soon!

Mum Mums are yum yum!
Too busy playing to worry about the Mum Mum stuck to my face.
More please!
